I never actaully read a story like this before. I like how the story is in first person because you can visualize what is going on in the story. It helps you feel some of the emotions and basically opens up your mind and eyes as like it was occurring in front of you. In Peyton dream, as you read it you probably think that the man has gotten off the noose and is returning home to his family. As soon he sees his wife and hugs her the story snaps at you and Peyton is hanging from the noose. Bierce does a excellent job in having twist to the story to help understand whats gong on and not to be set on one image of the story.
